It’s one of the biggest awards in American football, and there’s a slight change this year, so when does the 2021 NFL MVP get announced?
Traditionally, the NFL MVP is announced the day before Super Bowl Sunday as build-up to the showpiece event takes place.
However, for the 2021 award, there will be a slight change as to when the 2022 NFL MVP be will handed out.

2021 NFL MVP award
In a slight change, the award will be handed out in a special ceremony a couple of days earlier than usual.
It will still take place in Super Bowl week – after the Pro Bowl on February 6th.
The 2021 NFL MVP will be announced on Thursday 10th, February 2022 before Super Bowl LVI three days later on February 13th.
Aaron Rodgers is the defending MVP, having claimed his third win in 2020 for the ’19 season.
Who is likely to win it?
Rodgers is among the favourites to claim a fourth NFL MVP when the winner is announced.
He and old mucker Tom Brady are among the best tipped to claim the award – both having had strong regular seasons.
Rodgers attempted 531 passes in his 16 matches, making 366 of them for a 68.9% completion rate.
At an average of 7.8 yards, he threw 37 touchdowns for the Green Bay Packers, with 4,115 yards in total.
In comparison, Brady made 719 attempts, with 485 completions at 7.4 yards per attempt.
Brady contributed 43 touchdowns, although he did play one game more than Rodgers.
The last non-quarterback to scoop the MVP award was Adrian Peterson of the Minnesota Vikings in 2012.
Peyton Manning holds the record for the most awards with five.
