The UK’s fast food lovers have been sent into a frenzy by the arrival of the all-new Chicken Big Mac, which after just a week of appearing on McDonald’s menus has already been removed.
The massive chain has been known to try out a number of slightly more experimental foods, to accompany its regular best-sellers like the Quarter Pounder, Big Mac and Chicken Legend.
Recently, the meat-free McPlant is the latest addition to become a permanent fixture on the well-thumbed menu.
Other trials haven’t been so successful, however. Cast your mind back to the likes of the McRib, Arch Deluxe and McSalad Shakers for a reminder of the more short-lived menu additions.
Such a fate isn’t true for the Chicken Big Mac, however, which – unlike the bird it comes from – has absolutely flown.
Why has the Chicken BigMac been removed?
McDonald’s say they’ve been forced to take the bird-in-bun combination off its menu after being surprised by the enormous popularity of the sandwich.
Given the reaction McDonald’s fans had to the news of the Chicken Big Mac, it seems the fast-food chain may be struggling to keep up with demand.
It now needs some time to restock and recover, in order to ensure a smooth flow of tasty burgers to hungry mouths.
A spokesperson for McDonald’s said: “We have been delighted by our customers’ reaction to the limited-edition Chicken Big Mac. The demand has been incredible and we simply cannot keep up.
“As such we’ve made the decision to pause the promotion, let our restaurant teams and suppliers restock and get ready for its return in a few weeks.
“We’ll keep customers informed about its return through the usual channels. Thank you to everyone who has made this our most popular launch ever. We can’t wait to bring it back for even more customers to enjoy.”
When will the Chicken BigMac be back?
McDonald’s has confirmed that the Chicken Big Mac will be returning to menus in the future.
As it stands, there has been no date confirmed as to when the immediate fan favourite will be back, but based on the international megaband’s scramble to get stocks back on track, it is fair to assume the wait won’t be too long.
Taking to its Twitter account, the fast food firm said: “Well, that escalated quickly. Your love for the limited edition Chicken Big Mac knew no bounds and it’s sold out almost everywhere. Thank you for lovin’ it even more than we thought you would, it’ll be back soon.”
Based on the new sandwich’s clear popularity, it seems fans won’t have to wait too long to get their hands on the tasty treat.
