Decision making is a long process. Unless it is done by Canada. First Leopard 2 tanks provided by this country in a form of military aid are already on their way to Ukraine.
While multiple European countries have expressed their determination to provide German Leopards to Ukraine, there are multiple issues delaying the transfer of these heavy vehicles at a time when they are needed the most.
Countries that have these main battle tanks in their armed forces are saying they need permission from Germany. Meanwhile, Germany is waiting for signs of confirmation from the United States.
But when the U.S. formally announced it would be providing its own Abrams for Ukraine last week, fulfilling those pledges on the European side is stalling again.

In this regard, a recent course of action from Canada sets new criteria for the efficiency of logistics. Yesterday the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced on their official page on Facebook that Canadian Leopard 2 main battle tanks are already on their way to Ukraine.
“Today, an Royal Canadian Air Force aircraft departed Halifax carrying the first Leopard 2 main battle tank that Canada is sending to Ukraine. Canada stands with the people of Ukraine – and we’ll continue to provide Ukraine’s Armed Forces with the equipment that they need to win. Canada’s support for Ukraine is unwavering,” announced Anita Anand, the Minister of National Defense of Canada.
