Japan’s Princess Mako has tied the knot with her partner Kei Komuro but who is he? Here’s everything you need to know about him.
The couple married on October 26th and are expected to move to the United States, according to reports.
Japan’s Princess Mako marries Kei Komuro
During a press conference on Tuesday (October 26th), Princess Mako and Kei Kamuro have announced that they have tied the knot.
The Princess, who is niece of Emperor Naruhito, has given up her royal status since Kei is a commoner and comes from a non-royal family.
The couple intended to get married in November 2018 but the wedding was postponed due to a financial scandal involving Kei’s family.
As reported by The Independent, Princess Mako and Kei have skipped a wedding ceremony and the Princess has turned down a dowry from the Japanese government.
“I am very sorry for the inconvenience caused and I am grateful for those… who have continued to support me,” the Princess said, according to an NHK report.
“For me, Kei is irreplaceable – marriage was a necessary choice for us.”

Who is Kei Komuro?
Kei Komuro is a 30-year-old lawyer who finished his studies in the US.
He graduated with a law degree from New York’s Fordham University and took the bar exam in July, with results due in December.
As reported by Reuters, Kei previously worked for tourism promotion near Tokyo while studying for his degree.
He has already landed a role as a law clerk at Lowenstein Sandler in the company’s New York office.
Kei and Mako met as students at the International Christian University in Tokyo in 2012 and got engaged in 2017.

Kei speaks out after marriage with Mako
In a press conference on Tuesday, Kei declared his love for Mako and said that he wants to spend his life with her.
“I love Mako. We only get one life, and I want us to spend it with the one we love,” he said according to an AFP report (via BBC).
“I feel very sad that Mako has been in a bad condition, mentally and physically, because of the false accusations.”
Kei and Princess Mako are expected to move to New York by the end of the year.
