Tom Cruz slammed for ‘Forbes Friend List’
Tom Cruz is being heavily criticised online after he revealed that he ranks his friends based on their earnings in a “Forbes Friends List”.
“So a few years ago, me and my friends started making this spreadsheet breaking down our incomes and availability for travel and it looks like this,” he said.
He then showed a spreadsheet that contains all the financial details, including annual income, bonuses and paid time off, of 18 of his richest friends. However, he clarified that they still hang out regardless of their income.
At the top is Shawn who has a projected 2021 income of $5 million. Then, at the bottom is Broke Bobby who earns $125,000.
Tom has been slammed for naming his least wealthy friend “Broke Bobby”, as $125,000 is still an incredibly high salary.
“This list is very pragmatic and also a lot of them are saying that it’s very motivational. It allows us to avoid awkward situations within our friend group,” he said.
The video has now been deleted from TikTok, but it was reposted on Twitter where it’s had a staggering 3.6 million views.
He also ranked his least wealthy friends
Despite the backlash, Tom returned to TikTok to post the spreadsheet that contains the financial details of his least wealthy friends, who he claims call themselves “the welfare ten”.
It looks exactly the same as the first one, with different categories for projected 2021 income, available paid time off, expenses and expected bonuses.
“They’re all really good friends, I’ve known most of these guys since college. A couple of them are unemployed, all of them are under $100,000 per year,” he said.
His most wealthy friend on this list is Jake, who has a projected 2021 income of $92,500. At the bottom of the list is Gimp, who earns $25,000.

Twitter users react to the video
People on Twitter are slamming Tom for his “Forbes Friends List”, claiming it is classist and inhumane to rank your friends based on their wealth.
One person wrote: “Imagine setting up a class system inside your friend group.”
Broke Bobby is still making 5x what the average American does. Rich people are so out of touch,” said another.
A third person added: “Why did he share this? How did he not immediately lose all his followers? This is one of the cringe-iest things I’ve ever seen on here.”
