Snapchat has come up with various features on the app ever since it introduced the Plus subscription, but why did it remove ghost trails from it?
When Ghost Trails for first introduced by Snapchat it received several backlashes as people were concerned about safety.
Nonetheless, it continued to exist on Snapchat Plus. On March 10, some people noticed it was no longer available on the app, but what was the reason behind this?
Why did Snapchat remove ghost trails?
Snapchat removed Ghost Trails because it has introduced a live location-sharing feature on the app. It is currently being rolled out in installments and if you cannot view it on the app, you eventually will.
The live feature option will allow you to let your close ones be informed about your location. It also gives you the freedom to share the location with the people you trust the most.
How to share live locations with your friends
To share your live location, follow the steps mentioned below:
- Go to a Friendship Profile
- Tap ‘Share My Live Location‘ under the ‘Snap Map‘ section
- Choose how long you want to share your Live Location with a close friend or family member. You have options such as ‘Always,’ ‘8 hours,’ or ‘1 hour.’
Keep in mind, when you enable the Live Location option, your device will collect data even if your Snapchat is not on. This is done to make sure your precise location is shared with the other person.
Your Live Location will be shared even if you are in Ghost Mode.
How to stop sharing your location
You can stop sharing your location by following the steps mentioned below:
- Go to the Profile of the friend that you want to stop sharing your Live Location with
- Click on ‘Stop‘ under the ‘Snap Map’ section
