EQUIPMENT NOTES:
- Like Scottie Scheffler who was recently announced as having joined TaylorMade and winning soon after at the WGC Match Play, Thitikul signed officially with Callaway on Wednesday and immediately won. Thitikul had played Callaway gear before signing with the brand, but her official arrangement could not have gone better for the Thai star or the company.
-
It was a good week for Callaway and its drivers that have proven popular across all major Tours so far in 2022. All of the top three on the LPGA Tour used a Callaway driver, while the WGC runner-up Kevin Kisner is also a Callaway staff player. Thitikul opts for shafts that are rarely used on the LPGA Tours and indeed much outside of Asia in all her clubs, while her driver is the low spinning and highly workable Triple Diamond version of Callaway’s latest Rogue ST range released earlier this year.
-
Already inside the top-20 on the world rankings despite being an LPGA rookie, 19-year-old Thitikul gives Callaway’s latest Chrome Soft range of golf balls its first win on the LPGA Tour for 2022.
QUOTE: “Its means a lot. I mean, its means the world to me to have my managers here as well and my caddie here, my best friend here, Pajaree, and I know my parents back home watching me right now. And then all the Thai fans, my coach as well watching me. It’s meaningful all of us, not just me.” – Atthaya Thitikul.
