38-year-old Clairessa Mendoza of Victoria and a juvenile have been taken into custody following a shooting over the weekend
VICTORIA, Texas – Two people involved in a shooting that took place in the 3100 block of Oaklawn over the weekend have been taken into custody.
On Saturday, August 21 shortly after 2 a.m., VPD officers responded to the 3100 block of Oaklawn in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a male lying on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound. Officers were able to render first aid before EMS medics arrived on scene to perform life-saving measures. The victim was transported to an area hospital and eventually life-flighted to a San Antonio hospital where he currently remains in stable condition.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a disturbance had occurred and the suspects involved began shooting, striking a bystander, then fled the scene. The suspects were described as an adult female and juvenile male who left the scene in a black vehicle. A short time later, the vehicle was located parked at a residence in the 1000 block of South Depot St.
The adult offender was located and subsequently arrested for the charge of Aggravated Assault With A Deadly Weapon. She has been identified as 38-year-old Clairessa Mendoza from Victoria. She was transported to the VCSO.
The juvenile was also located and apprehended for the charge of Aggravated Assault With A Deadly Weapon. The juvenile is a 15-year-old male who was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.
