Sometimes getting along with your partner’s family can be tricky.
However, one woman has found out her fiancé got a little too close to her older sister – or so she said.
The lady has taken to Reddit to ask if she should end things with her fiancé because he hooked up with her older sister years ago.
The poster, known as Magpieisgood online, says she’s been with her fiancé for almost five years.
She shared: “He is a great, great guy and I have never even slightly suspected him of cheating or doing anything that would make me question his commitment to me. Maybe that’s why this has rocked me so much.”
The woman also says her older sister is “great” too.
She added: “We’ve had our ups and downs but I really do love her.
“I guess one of the reasons this bothers me so much is she had quite a reputation at our school and right or wrong I always held it against her because I felt like I suffered for her mistakes in that guys automatically thought I would sleep with them and when I didn’t they accused me of being a stuck up prude.
“My sister is a great person now and has an amazing husband, I love my 1 year old niece and I hang out with all of them a lot.”
The lady said her and her fiancé have been planning to have a small wedding in July as restrictions ease and she asked her sister to be Maid Of Honour – with her sibling accepted.
But then she met up with an old friend from school, who admitted she was “surprised” she’s “allow” her sister to be her Made Of Honour after their “history together”.
The poster wrote: “I asked her what she meant, she was surprised I didn’t know and went into fill me in that they were hook up buddies during their junior year. I was beyond shocked to hear it.
“I was even more surprised because my fiancé had a very steady girlfriend who died in a car crash that spring and if my dates are right, my sister was pregnant at the time.”
The woman said she didn’t believe it at first, but her friend told her to go look at the yearbook from that year and there was a picture in the “embarrassing moments” where her sister and now-fiancé were caught on camera coming out of the wrestling room and the entire school knew they’d just had sex.
She shared: “I know the picture but decided to verify for myself and sure enough the caption says ‘Are these 2 on the wrestling team? we aren’t sure!?!??!?’
The woman said she asked her fiancé if it was true and he told her keep in mind how long ago it was.
He also said he’d talked to her sister when they had started dating and they’d agreed that the past was the past and no reason to bring it up to her.
She added: “I called my sister and she said the same thing.”
The posted said it now means her fiancé was a “serial cheater” and was cheating on a girl that everyone loved who died.
She added: “My sister was pregnant with another guy’s baby and was still stupid enough to be screwing around with another guy.. .another guy she knew had a boyfriend.”
Asking for advice from fellow social media users, she admitted: “I’m at such a loss here. Is this worth leaving him over? Is this worth hating my sister all over again? Is this something I need to and maybe can get over?
“My head is racing a million miles a minute and I would love any help.”
Despite her heartfelt plea, many people seemed to doubt the poster’s story.
One wrote: “I have doubts this is real because who goes out to lunch with someone they had a “thorny relationship” with in high school and haven’t seen in over 6 years??? Like what?”

While another added: “She’s saying apparently the whole school knew, so why did it take a frenemy to tell her after five years of dating rather than an actual friend. It’s a very well written creative writing exercise.”
A third chimed in: “Way too many soap opera twists to be believable.”
However, one fellow Reddit user was convinced, writing: “I totally buy this story. I come from a small town and this could definitely happen. Everyone knows everyone and there’s all kinds of hooking up overlap.”
While another added: “People change and you’ll never know if you don’t give them a chance.”
