A woman shocked some Facebook users when she asked for advice on how to cook a Sphinx cat.

However, many others found the post, on the “Healthy Meals & Treats” page, hilarious as it became clear the post was a light-hearted joke.

In a photo, the bald cat sat in a metal roasting tray – looking an awful lot like a ready-to-roast chicken or turkey.

Posting the snap of the cat, which is a hairless variety, Natasha Pearce said: “Really fancied roast beef. But the other half bought this instead.

“Can anyone recommend the best way to cook it please?”

Do you think this joke is in bad taste? Let us know in the comments…

Over 180 people reacted to the post with a mixture of laughing and shocked faces.

One person said: “Add strips of bacon and cook on high temperatures and for approx 15 mins per kg.”

“Two or three hours should do it purrrrrfect,” added a jokester.

While a third commented: “You deffo need to skin the feathers off this one first.”

And another wrote: “Massage the skin with butter!”

However, animal lovers weren’t pleased with the post.

One person said: “Not funny, sad person.”

“I didn’t cook a Xmas turkey and I didn’t find it funny,” added another.

A third said: “She’s an awful human being that thinks she is funny.”

But, many came to Natasha’s defence.

One person replied: “Why is it ok and acceptable if it was a bird, chicken, turkey etc?

“Ask yourself why you have warped selective boundaries.”

While another wrote: “It’s a joke – just relax as I expect they love the cat, just have a swig of Brandy and see the silly side of this post.”

“It’s all just for laughs, no animals were harmed in this post, guess you haven’t got a sense of humour.”
