A woman working out at the gym was praised for her response to a man’s rude and sexist comment.
In a video, Kat Kamalani, a flight attendant and mum-of-two, recalls how she was at the gym choosing her weights when a man she didn’t know asked her if she was going to lift 35lbs.
Kat says as a “joke” she was going to use the 100lb (45kg) weights, so the man apparently mocked her.
She continues the story: “He laughed and said I couldn’t even pick the 100s up and points to the 5s and says there are the girl weights.”
Kat continues: “So I stood up and grabbed the 100s and did this in front of him.”
The air hostess then shows herself squatting and lifting the giant weight multiple times, barely showing her exertion.
She uploaded the clip on her @katkamalaniTikTok page and it’s been watched more than 50,000 times and racked up thousands of likes and comments.
One user joked: “You should have thrown the 100s at him lol.”
“Don’t tell me I can’t because if I couldn’t before, I will now be fueled by rage and fury,” commented a second viewer.
A third said: “You show him who’s the bosss yasss girl.”
Some viewers were less kind and few trolls continued to try and diminish her achievements.
One said: “Ummmm that’s not exactly picking them up. Let’s see you bench 100lb dumbbells and then we can talk.”
“The dude behind her is lifting twice that,” said a second.
Kat Kamalani also has an Instagramaccount and a YouTube channel where she vlogs about her life and work.
This comes after a fitness influencer said she had given up calorie counting and was “excited” with her new outlook.
