Puckett, the oldest competitor in the field, went down to American Lynn Thompson 4&3 in the Round of 64, but it was a different story for Wooster in her match with Joan Gardner.
The Victorian made a par up the 1st at Anchorage Golf Course in Alaska to take a 1-up lead and never trailed in her match with the American hailing from Virginia, in fact Wooster was only tied with Gardner for a solitary hole during a clinical performance to advance to the Round of 32.
Gardner drew level with the 60-year-old via a four at the par-4 5th only to have the 1-up margin restored at the par-5 next and increased to 2-up at the following hole.
Two times a runner-up in this event, Wooster made her advantage three holes at the 11th before closing out the match with a birdie at the par-3 16thher score for the completed holes a very impressive one-over-par.
A regular winner around the world, and former World No.1 in the senior women’s amateur game, Wooster will now face Amy Kennedy in the next round after the American claimed a 4&2 win over Sherry Soto having been 4-up after four holes.
