The Xbox One black screen error is causing major issues for gamers this week trying to use their console.
Gamers are reporting that after a recent update, their Xbox One console appears with a black screen, only broken by the profile sign in message at the bottom of the screen.
The big problem here is that the Black Screen on Xbox One consoles can’t be removed by restarting the machine.
Gamers are also reporting that a hard reset does not help, leaving many unable to use their console.
The good news is that this issue appears to affect those who have signed up for the Xbox Insider Programme.
The Microsoft page for the program states that “You’re willing to access and participate in previewing and providing feedback on Xbox content before it is rolled out to the general public.
“Please note that Program updates may not be as stable as the general public release and may temporarily cause diminished or lost functionality.”
One Xbox owner shared this update regarding what had happened to their console and how they tried to fix the Black Screen of Death, writing online:
“I just turned my Xbox One on. It gave me the normal “Hi (My Name)” and then nothing. Just a black screen.
“I’ve tried the method of holding the power button and then unplugging it and leaving it for a minute, but it just gives me the startup screen, the “Hi” message, and then goes right back to the black screen. How do I fix this?
Another user added: “I held the power button and synch button, and then immediately held the eject button at soon as it turned on. I just held my fingers in place for as long as it took until the factory reset screen showed up.
“I pressed reset, made double-y sure that my games would be saved, no finger slips, and then I was off to the races.”
So it appears that performing the Factory Reset has helped some of those who have been locked out of their consoles.
However, it should be noted that an update to fix this issue could be sent through by Microsoft soon, with new beta updates launched every few days.
Microsoft could share more news if the issue becomes more widespread.
