A number of Yahoo services have suffered an outage, affecting thousands of people.
Dozens shared their frustration on social media after finding they were unable to access their emails on Thursday morning.
Scottish Twitter user Catherine Smith said she was “really annoyed” by the outage and planned to change email provider, while another said they were unable to work without it.
“Some of us depend on our inbox for business and other urgent needs,” one user tweeted to Yahoo’s customer care team.
In a brief statement, Yahoo acknowledged the outage to some of its services, and said it was working to fix the issue.
The company then tweeted six hours later that “most services” were back up and running after a “technical issue”, and thanked users for their patience in waiting for all the issues to be resolved.
Yahoo, which is owned by Verizon, did not disclose how many people were affected by the outage, but monitoring website Downdetector.com said the number surpassed 4,000 users.
