A threatening conversation between Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar and Bikram Singh Brar, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) with Punjab’s Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), surfaced on social media on Monday. In the audio clip, which lasts more than eight minutes, Goldy Brar is heard accusing the police of deploying “informers” within his gang, a move that he perceives as a threat to his operations.Goldy Brar, whose real name is Satinderjit Singh, is a key member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and is linked to several high-profile criminal activities. In the conversation, he warns DSP Brar about the alleged informants infiltrating his gang, though the police officer makes it clear that such threats will not deter law enforcement actions.

DSP Brar’s Defiant Response

DSP Bikram Singh Brar, a decorated officer known for his expertise in encounters, responds to Goldy’s threat with a firm and resolute tone. Brar asserts that police will continue to act as per the law, regardless of the threats posed by criminals. He states, “We do our duty. For us, you or any other gangster or any dog or donkey or horse are the same. You all will get the same treatment if you don’t mend your ways.”

Brar also reminded Goldy of an earlier incident in which a gang member, Ankit, shot at minor girls to avoid a police raid. This statement highlights the level of violence associated with Brar’s gang and the police’s determination to tackle it head-on.

Who is Goldy Brar?

Goldy Brar, the son of a former Punjab Police assistant sub-inspector, has been involved in multiple serious criminal activities. He is accused of masterminding the May 2022 murder of popular singer Sidhu Moosewala, a crime that sent shockwaves across India. Due to his increasing notoriety, the Union Home Ministry designated him as a terrorist on January 1, 2024, in recognition of his involvement in multiple murders and his radical ideology.

The notification from the Union Home Ministry also highlighted Brar’s role in making threatening calls to pro-nationalist leaders, demanding ransom, and posting claims of killings on social media. The terrorist designation comes in the wake of the NIA naming Brar and 11 others in a chargesheet related to the murder of Karni Sena chief Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, who was killed in Jaipur in December 2023.

How did the police respond?

In addition to his involvement in murders, Goldy Brar is linked to the smuggling of high-grade weapons, ammunition, and explosives through drones from across the Pakistan border. These weapons are allegedly used to carry out targeted killings, further complicating the situation for law enforcement agencies in Punjab and beyond.A senior officer in the Punjab Police confirmed that Goldy Brar had tried contacting DSP Brar several times before the conversation took place, though Brar had initially not answered the calls due to them coming from an “unknown number”. The officer further clarified that the audio clip was “leaked” by Goldy Brar and was not sourced from the police.
