Four RED Day 2020 Stories to Get You Excited About This Year
Keller Williams New York Region
‘All hands on deck’ took on a whole new meaning in Keller Williams’ New York region. As part of their RED Day 2020 efforts, the region put together a massive Zoomathon event, with guest speakers varying from musicians and life coaches to athletes and YouTubers, ending with Brian Cashman and Mariano Rivera of the New York Yankees. During the event, kwx head of industry Jason Abrams made an appearance as the interviewer for Rivera. The Zoomathon raised $83,778 in support of charities such as the American Red Cross, the Spectrum Designs Foundation, The Safe Center LI, and Helping Hand Rescue Mission. This year, the region will continue to work with these particular charities.
For the region, this work is ongoing. In addition to the RED Day day-of Zoomathon, the team partnered up with PinkTie, a community-led charity focused on creating access to opportunities for people in under-served communities in New York State, to donate and deliver meals to those in need. All in all, the region has completed 116 stops, serving 44 pantries and community organizations that cover 40 different communities. Since June of 2020, the team has delivered more than 3,000 prepared meals coupled with $25,000 worth of gift cards for underserved New York communities.
KW Larchmont
At the beginning of the COVID quarantine, many families were facing challenging times and losing their sources of income. In Los Angeles, KW Larchmont was dedicated to help. The team used social media in order to raise more than $4,000 worth of grocery money for families in need. The market center was able to distribute 100 credit vouchers, each worth up to $200 in groceries at local food co-op World Harvest. The vouchers were distributed through several community centers, including a senior center, a homeless shelter, and additional local outreach programs. The effort was spearheaded by Laura Anderson, a KW Larchmont cultural icon and the office’s KW Cares ALC chair for seven years.
KW St. John’s
For RED Day 2020, the market center partnered with The Boys & Girls Club of St. John’s, whose mission is to provide a safe, supportive place where children and youth can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships and develop confidence and skills for life. As a team, they were able to collect enough food to supply 45 families with food hampers containing approximately four weeks’ worth of food each, cook hot meals for 200 people, all with ingredients donated by the market center, and collect an additional $2,517 in cash donations for the Boys & Girls Club. The meals themselves were delivered to families affiliated with the Boys & Girls Club.
KW Orlando North
In Florida, the Orlando North market center showed some love and KW culture to their first responders, frontline workers, and small business owners. For RED Day 2020, they aimed to feed their community frontliners while at the same time supporting small local pizzerias. Their initial goal was to feed 92 people by providing 275 pizzas through agent cash donations. In the end, the office surpassed that goal by feeding more than 150 people with 325 pizzas.
We hope that these stories have reenergized you for May 13, and cannot wait to see what incredible projects will come out of this RED Day.
