A woman with a headful of long silky locks has claimed your hair is not growing longer because of the way you wash it.
In a TikTok video, influencer Taylor Rose @thehealthyhygge tells people how she believes they should take care of their hair if they want it as thick as hers.
“You’re using hot tools more than once a week and shampooing too often,” she says as an example of why your hair might not be as long as you want.
Taylor also warns against “brushing too often or too harshly” and makes a video to show the “correct” way to wash your hair.
First, she says you need to “detangle”, then you should “rinse your hair in lukewarm water”, apply a blob of shampoo the size of a quarter and only massage it into the roots of the hair, not all the way down the strands.
Taylor says you should then shampoo your hair again using a plastic “scalp scrubber” that massages the head.
Finally, you can rinse your hair with more lukewarm water and condition it.
Adding rosemary oil to your shampoo to “promote hair growth” is another tip she swears by, as well as using castor oil on her eyebrows which she claims has made them thicker.

Taylor tells people with “out of control” bed hair to resist the temptation to wash it every day and instead sleep in a hair cap made from silk or satin.
According to the NHS, it’s normal to lose between 50 and 100 hairs a day and you might not even notice it.
Temporary hair loss may be caused by an illness, stress, cancer treatment, weight loss, or iron deficiency, and your hair will grow back again.
Permanent hair loss can be a normal part of getting older but the health service recommends visiting your GP if you think your hair loss is abnormal.
