Britain’s No. 1 and No.2-ranked players will headline the historic return of women’s tennis to the Queen’s Club in London, with Katie Boulter and Emma Raducanu confirming their participation in the event in June.
Queen’s is set to host a WTA tournament for the first time since 1973 from June 7-15 this year after discussions were held with the ATP over ensuring the courts are not overly affected for the men’s competition the following week.
“I used to watch the [men’s] tournament every year growing up so to be able to compete at such a wonderful, historic, and iconic event to commence the grass court season is an honour,” Boulter told the LTA.
“We have some of the best women’s players in the world competing at Queen’s, and it takes the British grass court swing to a whole new level.
“To win that title as a British player would be an absolute dream and I will do everything I can to get myself in that position. Let’s make more history this summer.”
Boulter and Raducanu will be joined at the event by reigning Australian Open champion Madison Keys, four-time grand slam winner Naomi Osaka and Daria Kasatkina, who won another of the traditional grass-court tune-up tournaments at Eastbourne in 2024.
“Getting to compete there for the first time and experience playing at The Queen’s Club is going to be such a special occasion,” world No. 6 Keys said.
“I love the grass court season, some of my favourite memories of my career have come when I won titles in Birmingham and Eastbourne.”
Tournament director Laura Robson expressed her excitement at the level of talent committed to the WTA 500 event.
“Fans will see some of the best female players on the planet, and with three grand slam champions and the British number one in the mix, it promises to be a spectacular return to The Queen’s Club for women’s tennis,” she said.
Whoever wins the title at Queen’s will be the first woman to so since Olga Morozova 52 years prior.
Boulter has struggled with injury so far in 2025, not playing since her second-round defeat to Veronika Kudermetova at the Australian Open.
Raducanu, the 2021 US Open winner, snapped a four-match losing streak on Monday with a convincing victory over world No. 29 Maria Sakkari in the first round of the Dubai Tennis Championships.
