AN ALDI shopper has shared the hilarious blunder that saw her pay for and walk away with part of the STORE.
Rachele Schindler visited her local budget supermarket in search of plant supports to hold up her new cucumber stems.
Plant supports encourage healthy growth by holding up stems, with air able to better circulate around the plant.
So, Rachele thought she’d hit the jackpot when she saw a large metal one in Aldi.
She was able to pay for the supposed gardening tool at the till and leave the store with it.
However, after getting home, she soon realised something was wrong.
Taking to Facebook in search of advice, she asked: “Can someone help me out?
“I bought this this week. It says that it’s a four pack plant support, but that’s not what it is and it’s not for anything.
“It’s one thing… what that thing is I have no clue, other than knowing it’s for the garden.”
Her post soon went viral as green-fingered Brits were quick to point out her mistake.
Rachele had actually bought one of Aldi’s display units – the one that was holding the plant supports before they all sold out.
The hilarious post went viral earlier this week, and has since totted up 10,000 likes and over 2,500 comments.
Hundreds of Brits weighed in that they were “screaming” and “couldn’t stop laughing” at the blunder.
But many questioned how it was even possible for the display unit to be scanned – and paid for – at the till.
To all the Karens: you should have kept your comments to yourself, because now everyone knows who you are

“This honestly looks like the display the four pack plant supports are in at the store,” Alyssa Doll Hutchinson penned.
“I’m confused though; how did they even ring this up?”
“This is my favourite Aldi post ever!” Shirley Girard laughed.
“I am dying because this is something I would do,” Kenzie Walker added.
Following her post going viral, Rachele went back to the Aldi she bought the display unit from in search of answers.
She later edited the original Facebook post to give her enthused commenters an update about what happened when she confronted the store manager and clerk who sold her the display unit.
“They both had a great laugh,” she said.
“The manager (who’s name is Karen) was truly embarrassed and told me to keep it and do whatever I want with it.
“She also gave me 25% off my entire cart on this trip.
“I’m glad everyone got a good laugh, and I see this group got quite a bit of new members, some of whom have never even shopped at an Aldi before.
“I even made some new friends.
“And to all the Karens: you should have kept your comments to yourself, because now everyone knows who you are.”
When’s the best time to shop at Aldi?
WHEN it comes to shopping at Aldi, the best time to do so depends on what you want to buy.
For reduced items – when shops open
Red sticker items are rare at Aldi’s 830 UK stores, but the supermarket says that none of its food goes to waste so there are some to be found – if you’re quick.
A spokesman for the supermarket said: “All items are reduced to 50 per cent of the recommend sales price before stores open on their best before or use by dates.”
That means you have the best chance of finding reduced food items if you go into stores as soon as it opens.
Opening times vary by shop but a majority open from 7am or 8am. You can find your nearest store’s times by using the supermarket’s online shop finder tool.
For Specialbuys – Thursdays and Sundays
Specialbuys are Aldi’s weekly collection of items that it doesn’t normally sell, which can range from pizza ovens to power tools.
New stock comes into stores every Thursday and Sunday, so naturally, these are the best days to visit for the best one-off special deals.
For an even better chance of bagging the best items, head there for your local store’s opening time.
You don’t have to head into stores to bag a Specialbuy, though.
They also go on sale online, usually at midnight on Thursday and Sunday, and you can pre-order them up to a week in advance.
As long as you spend at least £25, you’ll get the items delivered for free.
Remember: once they’re gone, they’re gone, so if there’s something you really want, visit as early as possible
