The college football world is understandably paying close attention to Arch Manning.
The rising high school junior quarterback and the nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning is among the Class of 2023’s top prospects. With college football’s dead period over, the young Manning just picked up a very significant college football offer.
Dabo Swinney and Clemson offered Arch Manning a scholarship
Peyton Manning famously played at Tennessee, and Eli and their father, Archie, played at Ole Miss. But Arch Manning, a consensus 5-star prospect, could very well find himself playing in the ACC.
Nelson Stewart, Arch’s high school coach at Isidore Newman School in New Orleans, told The Athletic that Clemson recently offered the young Manning a scholarship. Arch, Cooper’s son, attended a Clemson camp in early June and performed at a high level.
According to Stewart, both Arch and Cooper came away pleased with their trip to Death Valley.
“They were able to get a really nice tour of all of the facilities. I’m glad that it seems like he threw really well, which I thought he would. I think it’s great that he got to work directly with Coach Swinney.”

With an offer from Clemson in hand, Manning can hypothetically commit to the Tigers at any point. However, all commitments are non-binding until he signs his letter of intent, which would likely come either in December 2022 or February 2023.
Manning impressed at a Clemson prospect camp
A quick look at the Twitter timeline in the summer months shows recruits of all ages tweeting about their latest offers. Teams offer everyone from middle school-aged quarterbacks — we’re looking at you, Lane Kiffin — to rising high school seniors after working with them at prospect camps.
Manning, a rising junior, earned his Clemson offer after a viral showing at a Tigers camp in early June. Videos flooded social media of the top prospect hitting his throws and working with the Tigers’ coaching staff.
At one point, Manning threw a sensational deep ball to Matayo Uiagalelei, who 247 Sports considered a 4-star prospect as of June 2021. Uiagalelei is expected to play either tight end or defensive end in college.
Which other schools could be in the mix for Manning?
Much can change in a year, and even if Manning commits to Clemson in 2021, nothing is guaranteed he signs his letter of intent. Even then, some may contest that nothing matters until the prospect is enrolled on campus.
According to 247 Sports, Manning held 12 scholarship offers as of June 7, 2021. Ten of those offers came from teams in Power 5 programs, such as the SEC and ACC. That list grows to 11 if one counts Notre Dame, which will return to being an independent in 2021. The Fighting Irish played the 2020 season in the ACC.
Alabama, LSU, and Ole Miss are among the schools which offered Manning a scholarship. 247 Sports listed SMU, which plays in the American Athletic Conference, as the lone Group of 5 program which had offered Manning as of publication.
As a 2023 prospect, Manning can not sign his letter of intent until December 2022 at the earliest.
