WE all know achieving sleek and glossy hair is easier said than done sometimes.
But beauty fans have found a cheap and cheerful way to get the salon look at home, and it’ll only set you back £3.99.
The L’Oreal Paris Elvive Hydra Hyaluronic Hair Mask has hundreds of perfect five star reviews online – and it’s no surprise why,
The product description on Boots’ websites notes that the hair mask has a “scientifically proven skincare inspired formula” to help fight dry and damaged at “the first sign of hair damage.”
Not only that but the Elvive Hydra Hyaluronic hair mask is also formulated to add volume to your locks, unlike other conditioners and treatments that can weight your hair down.
One happy customer even said they’d never use another product after trying the hair mask, they wrote: “Omg what a product the best on the market wouldn’t change for anything else.
“After first use my hair transformed from dry dull and tired to smooth silky and sleek.”
And their not the only one, a second agreed: “Lovely smell and texture to this product. My hair looked and felt great and styled easily afterwards, noticed a difference straight away.”
“I literally love this range. Due to my hair being badly damaged after having two kids and coloured hair this stuff brought my hair back to life it was dull and bouncy sleek and shiny and the smell is to die for,” a third wrote.
Another hair fan also commented on the mask’s great smell, they said: “Smells amazing and does the job.
“I use in conjunction with the matching shampoo twice a week and it leaves my hair lovely and soft, without being greasy.”
The hair mask is usually priced at £7.99 on Boots.com, but right now the price has been slashed to just £3.99, so you really can’t go wrong.
How to protect your hair
There are many ways you can keep your hair from looking dull and lifeless – and hair masks are just one of them.
Sleep on a silk or satin pillowcase
There’s a lot of friction between your head and pillow when you toss and turn in your sleep.
This friction can damage your hair, causing split ends and frizz – but sleeping on a silk or satin pillowcase will minimise the friction, meaning you can rest easy knowing you hair is still going to look luscious in the morning.
Avoid heat styling
It’s no secret excessive amount of heat styling can damage your hair, but did you know you can achieve similar hairdos with no heat at all.
You can buy heatless curlers, or even use the tie of your dressing gown like some hair fans – you’ll get the same look, minus the dry and brittle hair.
Protect hair when in the sun or swimming
As summer rolls around you’ll probably be spending more time outside, and that means your hair could become damaged from sun exposure.
According to Batiste wearing a hat is the best way to protect your tresses, and when you’re swimming they recommended “applying conditioner or a leave-in mask before swimming in any type of water (but especially chlorinated pools).”
The importance of sun cream in your skincare routine
Dermatologist and skincare enthusiast Andrea Suarez – known as Dr Dray – revealed why you should wear suncream.
The one thing you can do that will make the biggest difference – and this matters for all ages – is protecting your skin from the sun, Andrea stressed.
“The vast majority of external aging is due to exposure to ultraviolet radiation,” she continued, not because you’re “not using some jazzy serum or layering 90 different things on your face everyday”.
“If you’re not doing in your 20s, get on that now.”
But she said the use of sun cream alone doesn’t go far enough. Andrea urged that you also wear sun-protective clothing like broad-brimmed hats and long sleeves, on top of not staying out too long in the sun.
Doing this over your lifetime – and all year, not just during the summer or on sunny days – “will reduce the visible signs of photoageing”, Andrea said.
Those are wrinkles, muddled pigmentation and sagging skin.
