An optical illusion video left thousands of people baffled – but can you figure out what’s going on?
Adeline, who shares “surprising, unusual and weird art” on her Tiktok page, shared the optical illusion and caused her followers some serious confusion.
The video shows what appears to be a drawing of a corridor – but as Adeline moves the camera around, it looks like the drawing is sinking into the table below it.
It appears as though the art-lover has managed to create a magical 3D hallway going through the surface below – and no one had any idea how it was possible.
At the end of the video, however, Adeline showed that – rather than the drawing sinking into the table below, it was actually a 3D structure coming out of the table.
She said this phenomenon is called “reverse perspective.”
She explained: “I don’t know about you, but I’m fascinated by optical illusions. Today I was playing with something called reverse perspective and I made a little art gallery.”
So many people wanted to make their own reverse perspective rooms, Adeline even provided a whole tutorial.
The video racked up four million views, and commenters were absolutely mind-blown.
A stunned commenter wrote: “I am not ok with this.”
“This genuinely scared me, I don’t know why,” wrote one baffled viewer, while another added: “Oh no… my brain… it’s broken.”
“When you changed the angle completely I almost threw up,” a third added.
A fourth wrote: “My brain’s hurting because I see both at the same time.”
Even after Adeline revealed the illusion, commenters were still confused.
“My brain is switching from seeing the illusion to breaking it every two seconds, it’s making me kinda dizzy,” wrote one.
“I keep seeing it and unseeing it,” another added.
