The City invites residents to share suffestions and feedback
VICTORIA, Texas – The City of Victoria invites you to share your suggestions and concerns as they work to update the section of its code relating to the care and management of animals within City limits.
On Aug. 17, the Victoria City Council proposed amendments to the City Code’s “Chapter Four: Animals and Fowl” during their meeting.
City of Victoria seeks animal ordinance input – The proposed changes include:
- Limiting the number of dogs and cats that can be kept at a residence
- Reducing the number of poultry that can be kept at a residence
- Changes to Animal Control fees and operations
- Various other changes related to code enforcement, care of outdoor dogs and cats, dangerous dogs, animal-related businesses and rabies prevention
You can visit www.victoriatx.gov/animalcode to provide feedback. You can also respond to survey questions related to the proposed amendments. The deadline for responses is 5 p.m. on Sept. 17.
The City will also host town hall meetings on Tuesday, Sept. 14 and Thursday, Sept. 16 at 6:30 p.m at the Community Center annex. You will have the opportunity to share feedback and hear from Victoria County Animal Control officers. The City prosecutor will also be in attendance to talk about the proposed amendments.
During the Aug. 13 City Council meeting, Mayor Jeff Bauknight thanked residents who have already contacted council members to share feedback. The council and City staff will keep in mind resident’s messages when deciding how to move forward with the amendments.
