Illinois nurses gave a husband and wife who are both hospitalized with COVID-19 a special gift this week — a date night, complete with dinner.
Frank Martinez, 93, and Masako “Terry” Martinez, 86, were both being treated in separate areas at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon, Ill, KMOV reported.
Family members said the couple, who had been married for 63 years, are inseparable and very dependent on each other.
So their nurses, Hannah Schlemer and Kim Presson, arranged a date night for the couple on Wednesday.
“They were able to see each other, hold hands and eat together for the evening. Just as they have done for so many years,” the hospital said in a Facebook post.
A photo of the couple shows them holding hands as their nurses stand by their side.
