Japan marked on March 11 the 10th anniversary of an earthquake and tsunami that killed more than 15,000 people, and triggered a nuclear meltdown in Fukushima. This footage shows dove-shaped balloons with messages on them being released into the sky outside the Memoire de Yuriage, a memorial site in a district of Natori that was largely wiped out in the disaster. The site is near a former junior high school where 14 students were killed. A minute’s silence was observed around Japan at 2:46 pm, the time of the earthquake. Credit: @hori1965 via Storyful
