The Severn Confluence – where the rivers Vyrnwy and Severn meet – at Crew Green has been made the subject of a flood alert with river levels expected to rise between overnight tonight, Thursday, February 8.
A spokesperson from EA said: “River levels are rising at the Llanymynech river gauge following heavy rainfall and snow melt.
“Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland continues.”
Some of the locations that may be affected are Llanymynech, Maesbrook and Melverley.
The force added: “Minor roads between Maesbrook, Melverley and Pentre start to flood.”
The Environment Agency expects the peak to take place in Llanymynech with 3.4m to 3.9m this evening.
The EA continued : “Further rainfall is forecast over the next 24 hours. We expect river levels to rise as a result.
“We are closely monitoring the situation.
“Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.”
