WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis doesn’t want to confine himself at 135 lbs as he began sparking feuds with the elites at 140. ‘Tank’ might not shift his weight class this soon, especially when he has several more fights left at the division. However, he still didn’t hesitate to tout a possible matchup with Regis Prograis, somewhere down the line.
Residing at 140 lbs, Prograis is one of the best active super-lightweights. So, he responded to Davis’ call-out and didn’t shy away from boasting his prowess.
Akin to Davis, Prograis has also responded with scratchy remarks. Moreover, he also accused Floyd Mayweather to shelter out Davis from him. Although it was ‘Tank’ who began the banter, Prograis seemingly put the final nail on the coffin.
The undefeated Gervonta Davis vowed to defeat Prograis if they ever butt heads inside the ring. In response, Prograis posted two tweets and wrote out his mind.
He warned Davis to watch his mouth unless he wants the fight for real. But he also cited a fight in the future and teased the seeds of the matchup via social media.
The lightweight division and the super lightweight division have several superstars at this point. Therefore, we can expect to see certain crossovers in the coming days.
But Davis vs Prograis will clearly take a lot more time to happen and for the timing, it’s nothing more than a social media banter.

What’s next for Gervonta Davis and Regis Prograis?
Following a successful KO over Leo Santa Cruz in October, Davis is yet to find his next opponent. He was rumored to fight WBC (interim) lightweight champion, Ryan Garcia, a few weeks ago. However, the matchup doesn’t appear to be relevant anymore and ‘Tank’ is currently searching for his next step.
Meanwhile, Regis Prograis has his next fight against Ivan Redkach in the undercard of Jake Paul vs Ben Askren on April 17th.
Following his maiden loss against Josh Taylor in 2019, Prograis is back on his way to the winning column. So we can expect him to enter a title ride on bagging a win against Redkach. After that, fight fans can think of a possible clash between Gervonta Davis and Regis Progress.
Do you think ‘Tank’ will have a chance against Prograis?
