A former beachside prize home has been snapped up in a multimillion-dollar deal that not only sets a new benchmark for its street but blows the former record out of the water.
A former Brighton prize home has been snapped up in a multimillion-dollar deal, smashing its street record by almost $1 million.
The luxury three-storey home at 54 Alfreda St sold at auction for $2.341 million this month, which sets a new benchmark for the street.
CoreLogic data shows the record was previously $1.38 million, which was set by the neighbouring house at No.52 in March 2018.
Selling agent Travis Denham of Magain Real Estate said it was a great result for the seller, who never paid a cent for the property.
“The vendor won the home in 2018,” said Mr Denham, who sold the property with Chanelle Zadey.
“It was valued in 2018 at $1.9 million but that included the furniture.
“For us to get $2.341 million three years later just goes to show how good the market is.”
Mr Denham said there were 10 prospective buyers who registered to bid for the home at auction, with all but two buyers knocked out of the competition once the price climbed to $2.15 million.
A woman who viewed the house earlier that day secured it, he said.
The Scott Salisbury home, which has ocean views and is within walking distance of Jetty Rd, has three bedrooms and two bathrooms.
The ground floor is occupied by mostly the garage with a gym, while the first floor is dedicated to the main living areas.
All three bedrooms are upstairs, one of which has an ensuite, as well as an additional living area.
Mr Denham said both the home and its position were attractive to househunters but the fact that it was previously a prize home made it particularly appealing.
