A severe weather warning was in place for many parts of New South Wales, Australia, as rain continued on March 19. The Bureau of Meteorology said “heavy rainfall, likely leading to flash flooding” was forecast for the Mid North Coast, Hunter, Sydney Metropolitan, Illawarra, and Central Tablelands areas through March 20. Damaging winds averaging 60 to 70 km/h (37 to 45 mph) with gusts exceeding 90 km/h (56 mph) were also possible along the coastal fringe of the Mid North Coast on Friday evening, and the Hunter Coast on Saturday.
