Hunt: Vaccine rollout will be a ‘marathon not a sprint’

Reading Time: 2 mins read

Health Minister Greg Hunt says the nation’s vaccine rollout is a marathon not a sprint with 250,000 doses to be made available under Phase 1B next week.

“It is important to understand that we have more than three times the vaccines required for every Australian, so there’s more than enough vaccines for every Australian,” he said.

“As we begin Phase 1B which involves 6 million people, next week we will see approximately 250,000 vaccines available, so it’s a marathon, not a sprint".

Mr Hunt said it is expected the nation's overall vaccination tally will exceed 240,000 by the end of Thursday.

This will include over 570 aged care clinics administering first doses and over 50 aged care clinics administering second doses, to bring the total of vaccinated aged care residents to more than 50,000.
