It’s pretty clear Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews is under a corruption investigation by IBAC, in which case he “must stand down,” according to Sky News host Peta Credlin.
The Age has reported Victoria’s ICAC equivalent, the Independent Broad-based Anti-Corruption Commission, has been “examining the conduct of Premier Daniel Andrews and a senior public servant over their role in controversial deals that benefited the firefighters’ union and its boss, Peter Marshall.”
When questioned on the issue on Wednesday, Premier Andrews refused to admit he was subject to any investigation, and referred reporter questions to IBAC.
“Today, like the Victorian Premier, IBAC declined to answer media questions,” Ms Credlin said.
“So that says to me, it’s serious and that IBAC would only be conducting this investigation if it had reasonable grounds for thinking that there has been corrupt conduct, such as improper influence on official decision-making.
“Just last week, NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian resigned because she was under investigation by the state’s anti-corruption watch dog.
“If one premier can resign because she is being investigated by her state’s anti-corruption body, at the very least, another premier likely facing a similar investigation must stand down.
“If integrity in public life is to mean anything, if Andrews is under investigation by IBAC he must stand down.”
