Hi, first time seller in Los Angeles here needing newbie-level advice.
We are planning on selling a home very similar to the one here, and deciding 1. whether to do renovations and 2. whether to do staging. I see that most homes in our area look quite nice when put on the market, with renovations and staging. We were advised by agents to not do renovations but to do staging.
Are renovated kitchens and bathrooms likely not going to have a positive ROI? If so, why are we seeing many homes doing these? I realize these renovations may have been done earlier so that’s probably an unfair assumption on my part. Our kitchen has some very nice appliances but otherwise our kitchen and bathrooms are clean but really old style stuff from the 70’s (see the link above to get an idea). I know agents probably don’t want us to waste time renovating (which only hurts them), but just double checking things here from other sellers, who have the most to gain/lose.
Is staging generally recommended? This would mean that we’d have to completely move out?
Thank you!
