The news PlayStation fans have been waiting for what feels like forever for appears to have finally arrived.
More stock of the in-demand new Sony PS5 console is available across the UK from today.
It flew out of the door after its November launch – and parents needing one as a gift are worried about Christmas.
The rush has been on to land one of the new machines and sold up signs have been on websites everyhwhere.
Customers have been chasing updates and awaiting news of more availabilty.
After rumours circulated on social media, a restock of the PS5 has now been confirmed.
Stock has come in and out of availability across several major retailer sites throughout the morning, reports the Daily Record.
Department store Very was one of the confirmed stockists earlier today, although for now it seems they have paused orders once again.
GAME has PS5 bundles available to pre-order on their site just now, suggesting a release of live stock could be imminent.
Argos also had PS5 stock through the night, restocking their website at around 3am this morning – which upset customers who complained the tactic was sneaky.
One angry tweet read: “What’s the rationale behind the decision to keep releasing PS5 stock at 3/4am? It’s clear from how preorders and launch day went that there’s groups of resellers using bots. Releasing at 4am only makes it harder for the average person to have a chance.”
Meanwhile, lucky BT broadband customers have been able to buy the PlayStation 5 since 8am GMT.
The news was first broken by the Express newspaper, as they followed plans by BT and EE to make PS5 consoles available to their customers through their existing BT contract or by using the EE ‘Add to Plan’ service.
However, given that there is additional stock available to supply these customers, and that Currys had already promised a stock drop at the start of December, it made sense to expect that other major retailers will have accepted new stock of the PS5 at the same time.
The best places to keep an eye on for the rest of the day are the key retailers, so, GAME would be a first port of call.
The next most obvious stops would be Argos, Currys, Very, John Lewis and Amazon.
Shops like Studio may not instantly spring to mind for a PS5 but they had stock during the last flurry of activity.
