NineSigma, representing a leading Energy Company, invites proposals for innovative photovoltaic technologies that enable the maximal exploitation of agricultural lands. The technology should show synergy with agricultural production whilst allowing electricity production on the same plot of land.
Today about 33,1 Giga Tons of CO2 are being emitted globally. To significantly lower the CO2 emissions and still be able to meet the global energy demand, other renewable energy solutions such as photovoltaic cells (i.e. solar panels) should be considered. Solar energy is the fastest-growing energy source and to further increase its market share, additional land/ surface area is required.
To protect crops from climate change and associated extreme weather conditions such as drought, extreme heat and water scarcity, smart solutions should be found and deployed. Agri voltaic systems could play a crucial role in mitigating the negative impacts of the changing global environmental condition whilst providing added value and a complementary income to the farming communities across the globe.
With this Request for Proposals, our client is seeking innovative photovoltaic systems that maximize the exploitation of agricultural lands, not only by generating electricity but also by effectively growing specific crops underneath, simultaneously. In addition, these solar panel systems could also contribute to the local biodiversity or play a role in the local water management ecosystem.
Submissions to this Challenge must be received by Jul 16, 2021.
