Michael Greco’s sick baby son wasn’t about to miss Italy’s big moment from Great Ormond Street.
Little Gianluca was born six weeks premature and has been battling in ICU.
Former EastEnders star Michael revealed last week that his baby had been born early and was diagnosed with a rare defect called Gastroschisis.
The tot has now left the emergency ward and is making encouraging progress.
Despite being born in England, there is absolutely no doubt that Gianluca will be grow up to be an Italy fan just like his patriotic father.
The former soap star is a big football man and proud of his country – even blagging a ticket in the posh seats at Wembley last night.
The 50-year-old actor, who became a dad for the first time on July 1, refused to let his son miss out.
Michael and his girlfriend Helen made sure there was a TV at the end of his bed to see the Azzuri win on penalties.
It was a late night – and there is a good chance he may not have been awake at gone 10.30pm to see the match’s conclusion.
But Michael – Beppe di Marco in EastEnders until 2002 – made sure he re-posted the hospital scene on his Instagram story, along with an Italy flag as the party got started.
In his latest hopeful message, Michael explained that he is getting stronger every day and his heart is bursting with so much love for the little one.
On Friday, alongside the post, the telly star shared a sweet snap of baby Gianluca smiling at the camera.
“My boy. My beautiful boy is out of ICU and fighting to live a normal life,” Michael told his followers.
“He has become stronger and stronger, day by day, and has given himself an incredible chance of a normal life that every new born baby deserves.
He added: “He’s a true Greco and has made my heart completely full and bursting of love. Much, much more than I ever thought was possible. Daddy is still a “tad” emotional. I love you Gianluca.”
Gastroschisis is described as an abdominal wall defect, which means that the baby’s intestines are developed outside of the body.
Michael has praised the hospital staff for taking incredible care of his little one and revealed that Helen and the baby had been in excellent hands.
