MADISON (WXOW) — Another 20,000 Wisconsin residents received their first shot in the COVID-19 vaccine series in the last 24 hours according to the state’s Department of Health.
As of Sunday, figures show that 1,251,433 people in the state have received at least one dose of the vaccine. That translates to 21.5 percent of state residents according to DHS. 698,915 people, or 12.1 percent of the state’s population, have finished the vaccine series.
In Western Wisconsin to date, 65,071 people have received at least one dose of the vaccine. It equates to 23.7 percent of the total number of people in Western Wisconsin. 37,036, or 13.5 percent, have completed the vaccine series.
The DHS figures show that 29,533 people or 25 percent of residents of La Crosse County have had at least one dose of the vaccine. 17,621 people in La Crosse County, or 14.9 percent, completed the vaccine series according to the state.
In other counties, these are the percentages for the population receiving the first dose of a COVID vaccine: Monroe: 19.6 percent, Vernon: 22.8 percent, Trempealeau: 26.5 percent, and Jackson: 22.5 percent.

According to adjusted numbers from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services there were two fewer deaths in the state from the virus.
DHS occasionally makes adjustments when new information about a case or death becomes available. On Sunday, they moved the total number of deaths down two to 6,536.

DHS also reported 17 people were newly hospitalized.
As of Friday afternoon, 234 COVID-19 patients were being treated in Wisconsin hospitals.
Of those, 55 people are in the ICU according to the Wisconsin Hospital Association.
There have been 274 positive COVID-19 tests since yesterday in Wisconsin and 3,548 negative results.

Of all positive cases reported since the pandemic began, 556,803, or 97.7 percent, are considered recovered.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services said that 13 people are hospitalized in the Western Region of the state, which is comprised of Buffalo, Trempealeau, Jackson, La Crosse, Monroe, Vernon, and Crawford counties. None of the patients are currently in intensive care.
DHS added eight new cases to the list for La Crosse County. Here are the age demographics of those cases:
