TOP STORY: Donnarumma seeks PSG exit to Juve?
Gianluigi Donnarumma is looking to leave Paris Saint-Germain despite only joining in the summer from AC Milan on a free transfer, according to Tuttosport.
The Italy international goalkeeper is reportedly unhappy in Paris, with agent Mino Raiola eyeing a potential move for his client to Juventus in January. Donnarumma started in his side’s 2-0 win over Manchester City on Tuesday in the Champions League, but the report suggests that he isn’t pleased with having to battle incumbent keeper Keylor Navas for the No. 1 spot.
A move to Juventus would see the 22-year-old return to the Serie A, where he spent his career before the move to France. Juventus have been linked with goalkeeper in recent weeks due to a difficult start to the season for Wojciech Szczesny, who was replaced by Mattia Perin for the 3-2 win over Sampdoria.
Donnarumma has seen his stock rise over the past few years, culminating in a Euro 2020 title this summer. He became a key player for Italy between the posts, making 36 appearances for them with 20 clean sheets. He also became a key part of AC Milan’s rebuild that saw them regain a place in the Champions League this season, making 251 appearances with 88 clean sheets before leaving for Paris on a free.

13.57 BST: Barcelona’s financial crisis has been laid bare after LaLiga cut another €300 million from their spending limit, with six clubs in the Spanish top-flight now permitted to spend more than them.
The bar for operating costs for Barca for the 2021-22 season has been reduced to €97m, which is almost €650m less than rivals Real Madrid, whose limit has been fixed at €739m.
Barca’s limit for last season was €382m, while the season before that, in 2019-20 prior to the pandemic, it was as high as €600m.
LaLiga’s corporate director Jose Guerra explained that the Catalan club’s limit, which is less than clubs such as Villarreal and Real Sociedad, is down to losses of nearly €500m for the previous campaign.
13.33 BST: The Daily Mail says that Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno is attracting interest from Inter Milan.
Leno, 29, has fallen behind summer signing Aaron Ramsdale in the No. 1 race and is looking to move on.
But Fabrizio Romano reports that Inter are only interested in signing Ajax keeper Andre Onana on a free transfer in June 2022. So where that leaves Leno is anyone’s guess.
12.25 BST: Tottenham have struggled a bit in recent games but have set their sights on signing West Brom goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, according to Football Insider.
Johnstone, 28, was linked with a £15m summer move but no club matched that price and he stayed.
Tottenham are in need of a long-term replacement for Hugo Lloris as the France international is 34 and has yet to sign a new contract before it expires in 2022.
11.39 BST: Barcelona have appointed an Olympic taekwondo champion to head up their player care department as president Joan Laporta continues to make changes behind the scenes.
Joel gonzalez, who won a gold medal at London 2012 and a bronze in Rio de Janeiro four years later, replaces Pepe Costa, who has moved to Paris Saint-Germain with Lionel Messi.
Costa’s contract expired on June 30 and Barca never offered him a new deal, making it easy for him to follow Messi to France. He was known around the club as Messi’s shadow.
Gonzalez, 31, has a job which will include building relationships with the players at the club and supporting them with any problems they may have away from the pitch.
11.08 BST: Barcelona have big plans for Ansu Fati.
Julien Laurens speaks after Ansu Fati scored on his Barcelona return against Levante in LaLiga.
10.32 BST: No Premier League club spent more than Arsenal this summer with over £150m splashed on Ben White, Martin Odegaard, Aaron Ramsdale, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Nuno Tavares.
But the Gunners aren’t done yet, says Football.London.
The report claims: “The next positions Arsenal are expected to target are midfield and defence. A back-up goalkeeper for Aaron Ramsdale once Bernd Leno leaves is likely too.”
09.50 BST: Liverpool beat FC Porto 5-1 on Tuesday night but the club are keen to sign two of their players.
Porto winger Luis Diaz and midfielder Fabio Vieira are the pair in question, says the Independent, and both have seen plenty of interest from top clubs in recent weeks.
Colombia star Diaz, 24, finished tied for the Golden Boot with Lionel Messi at this summer’s Copa America, while the 20-year-old Vieira won the Player of the Tournament award for Portugal in this summer’s European Under-21 Championships.
09.18 BST: Sevilla defend Jules Kounde has spoken about a summer in which he nearly moved to Chelsea.
Sources told ESPN that Chelsea were keen to strike a €50m deal for the Frenchman but Sevilla wanted closer to €80m to let him go.
“We all know that the summer was troubled,” Kounde told a news conference ahead of Sevilla’s Champions League trip to Wolfsburg. “I wouldn’t call it complicated. But it’s in the past now.
“I am concentrated on the team. The most important showing is the one on the pitch. The team needs me and and I also need the team to give my very best which is what I try to do. Up until this point, I’m happy with the team’s results and my own personal performances, even if I can improve a little bit still and do better than last season.”
08.53 BST: Manchester City have joined the race for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz, according to image.
Wirtz, 18, has had a fine season and recently broke Lukas Podolski‘s record to become the youngest player to score 10 goals in the Bundesliga.
Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal are all reportedly interested in Wirtz, but Bayern Munich are leading the queue for his signature in 2023.
8.30 BST: Lionel Messi said that Paris Saint-Germain and his partnership with Neymar and Kylian Mbappe will improve as they play more alongside each other.
Messi expressed the sentiment after he scored his maiden goal for PSG in Tuesday’s 2-0 Champions League victory against Manchester City after the Argentine’s stuttering start to the season.
Messi had been unconvincing in his first three appearances since joining on a two-year contract after leaving Barcelona, but on Tuesday, he reminded everyone of his talent. After a quiet first half, the diminutive forward linked up with Mbappe and found the top corner to effectively wrap up the win in the 74th minute.
“I am very happy to have scored,” said Messi, back on the pitch after sitting out two games with a bruised knee. “I haven’t played much recently. Only one game [at the Parc des Princes], this is the second one here. I am gradually adapting to my new team, to my teammates.
“The more we play together [with Neymar and Mbappe], the better it will be. We must all grow together, increase our level of play. We played well. We have to give our best and continue to do so.”
Gab Marcotti says Sheriff Tiraspol’s win over Real Madrid is why we watch football.

– Leicester City boss Brendan Rogers believes there is “no drama” in trying to keep hold of midfielder Youri Tielemans, but the club are looking at potential successors, according to The Athletic.
