A pub has apologised for any ‘offence’ caused after the current hot weather saw its sign change to something rather “interesting”.
Owners of The County Music Bar, on Saltergate in Chesterfield, claim the hot weather caused the ‘O’ in its name to crack and fall off.
This meant that the sign ended up reading something rather rude.
The vanished vowel meant the sign read ‘THE C’, followed by a small gap, then ‘UNTY BAR’.
We think you can guess what that reads.
Explaining and apologising for the mishap, a social media post from the pub read: “We apologise for any offence… the heat has caused the ‘O’ to crack and drop off leaving us with a rather interesting new sign…
“I can confirm we are not turning into a strip club.”
Posting another update, the pub added: “Don’t forget you’re all invited to The Great C*nty Quiz on Thursday at 8pm…”
Visitors have now called for the name to stay that way, asking the bar’s owners not to fix the sign.
One wrote: “Don’t you dare put that O back up this has just made your bar 10x more popular lol.”
While another agreed, adding: “Please don’t put the O back on.”
A third chimed in: “Please never fix the sign!! This is awesome!!!”
While a fourth said: “I vote that we keep it that way!!! There’s plenty of people who’d fit right in at the c**** bar!!”
How cheeky!
The news comes after another pub hit headlines this week for a bit more of a serious reason.
Norwich pub The Gardeners Arms, which is also known as The Murderers, wants to see proof of at least one Covid jab or a registered negative lateral flow test result before customers are allowed to enter the premises.
However, the policy has sparked backlash from anti-vaxxers, with some people threatening to vandalise the historic pub.
