The rest of this house is really nice, but its got this melted siding where the fireplace bumps out. Also the vent for the fireplace looks charred.
The homeowners say they have no knowledge of damaged siding, and the seller disclosure says no problems with fireplace. It is their 2nd home for vacations, so maybe they just don’t know, but I doubt it.
Could this just be heat from a window reflecting on the siding? There is a window right next to this area at a 90 degree angle, so its possible the sun gets magnified off that. But the charring on the vent doesn’t match that story.
I’m a first time homebuyer and I’m worried about what to do here. Should I pass on making an offer, or should I include that they need to repair it in the offer? Or is it just some benign sun damage? For context the house is 15 years old
Any advice appreciated
