Tinley Park High School students’ TikTok goes viral
The video which was originally posted on Facebook has become a TikTok trend now.
The one created by Tinley Park High School students sees their teachers as well as principals holding and pointing cell phones to the cameras. It looks like they are pretending to hold a gun.
The viral clip has received mixed reactions online with some calling it “disgusting” and “really stupid,” while others claiming it’s hilarious.
The video appears to be taken down from Facebook now. However, its many recreations and renditions are making rounds on TikTok.
Online reports claim that the video was created to promote school spirit. It has the song Who Want Smoke?? ft. Lil Durk, 21 Savage & G Herbo playing in the background as students pose with cell phones and other objects, making it look like they are pointing a gun at the camera.
Internet users divided over the video
TikTok users seem to be enjoying the various versions of the video created by the platform’s users.
The trend seems to be ongoing for the past few weeks.
From the looks of it, Facebook has taken the video down after it received backlash, as it cannot be found on the platform.
“I was very confused as to why these teachers thought this was okay..” one user wrote commenting on the situation.
A second user wrote, “In this season this isn’t funny AT ALL. Don’t suspend them have the conversation. It’s important.
School Administration responds to backlash
The school district’s spokesperson Jamie Bonnema spoke up about the viral video saying, the teachers and principal Dr Theresa Nolan were “misled” and “shocked” by the way the viral clips were edited into the video.
“They had no clue that they would be made to look like they were holding guns. They had no clue that their phone was going to be used like that. The video is edited pretty heavily to make them look a specific way. So completely misled by a student at the school,” said the spokesperson.
“We were extremely disappointed when we saw this video,” she continued. She also said, there will be consequences for anyone involved in the video.
