The countdown for the much-awaited biopic of India’s first field marshal, Sam Manekshaw, has begun. The makers of Sam Bahadur, starring Vicky Kaushal in the lead role, have launched a new promo to raise the excitement among the fans. The promo features Kaushal as Manekshaw delivering a powerful dialogue that sums up the courage and bravery of the Indian Army during the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war.

The promo is packed with power-packed dialogues by Vicky Kaushal as Sam Manekshaw, “Jung aasan kab hoti hai”, “Jo kehte hain unhe darr nahin, ya toh jhooth hai, ya phir Gorkha” and “There will be no withdrawals because Sam is here.”

The promo also shows glimpses of the war preparations, the political side, and the inspirational leadership of Manekshaw, who led the Indian Army to victory against Pakistan and helped create Bangladesh. The film, directed by Meghna Gulzar, also stars Fatima Sana Shaikh as Indira Gandhi, Sanya Malhotra as Silloo Manekshaw, Neeraj Kabi as Jawaharlal Nehru, and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub as Yahya Khan, among others. The film is based on extensive research and writing by Gulzar, Bhavani Iyer, and Shantanu Srivastava, who also met with the family members of Manekshaw.

Sam Bahadur is slated to release on December 1, 2023, in theatres across India. The film is produced by Ronnie Screwvala under the banner of RSVP Movies. The film is expected to face a tough competition from Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal, which is also releasing on the same day.

Sam Bahadur is a tribute to the heroism and patriotism of Sam Manekshaw, who was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, the Padma Bhushan, and the Military Cross for his service to the nation. The film also celebrates the 50th anniversary of the 1971 war and the birth of Bangladesh. Kaushal has undergone rigorous training in the army under the guidance of the Indian Army’s 6 Sikh Regiment to prepare for his role.
