The beef between Vin Diesel and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has been in the media for a few years now but what happened between the two actors?
If there is one key thing that fans have learned from the Fast saga is that family is all that matters.
But that’s apparently different if you are Vin Diesel or Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson as the two actors have been in a public beef since 2016.
Here’s what happened between the two stars after Diesel asked the Hobbs star to return to the franchise.

What happened between Vin Diesel and The Rock?
The beef started with a since-deleted Instagram post from Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson in which he opened up about filming the The Fate of the Furious in 2016.
The actor first appeared as agent Luke Hobbs in the 2011 film Fast Five.
In the since-removed post, Johnson wrote: “Some [male co-stars] conduct themselves as stand up men and true professionals, while others don’t. “The ones that don’t are too chicken s—t to do anything about it anyway. Candy a**es. When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I’m not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling — you’re right.”
Diesel seemingly responded to Johnson’s post with an Instagram post at the time, writing: “Honestly, give me a second and I will tell you everything. Everything.”
In a later interview, Diesel said that the beef has been exaggerated from fans and the media.
“I don’t think the world really realizes how close we are, in a weird way,” the actor told USA Today. “I think some things may be blown out of proportion. I don’t think that was his intention. I know he appreciates how much I work this franchise. In my house, he’s Uncle Dwayne.”

Diesel addressed beef in 2021
In an interview in June 2021, Diesel opened up about the feud and said that as a producer creating the character of Hobbs was “tough love” from his side.
“It was a tough character to embody, the Hobbs character,” Diesel told Men’s Health.
“My approach at the time was a lot of tough love to assist in getting that performance where it needed to be. As a producer to say, Okay, we’re going to take Dwayne Johnson, who’s associated with wrestling, and we’re going to force this cinematic world, audience members, to regard his character as someone that they don’t know — Hobbs hits you like a ton of bricks.”
The actor continued: “That’s something that I’m proud of, that aesthetic. That took a lot of work. We had to get there and sometimes, at that time, I could give a lot of tough love,” he said. “Not Felliniesque, but I would do anything I’d have to do in order to get performances in anything I’m producing.”
Meanwhile, Johnson said in July 2021 that he won’t be returning to the franchise but could that change after Diesel’s most recent Instagram post?

Vin Diesel asks The Rock to return
Taking to his Instagram on Sunday (November 7th), Diesel asked Johnson to put the drama behind and reprise his role in Fast 10.
“My little brother Dwayne… the time has come,” the Dom Toretto star wrote. “The world awaits the finale of Fast 10. As you know, my children refer to you as Uncle Dwayne in my house. There is not a holiday that goes by that they and you don’t send well wishes… but the time has come. Legacy awaits.”
Diesel continued: “I told you years ago that I was going to fulfill my promise to Pablo. I swore that we would reach and manifest the best Fast in the finale that is 10! I say this out of love… but you must show up, do not leave the franchise idle you have a very important role to play.”
Diesel finished his post by saying that “Hobbs can’t be played by no other” and that he hopes Johnson will “rise to the occasion and fulfil your destiny”.
