On Sunday, August 29, Kanye West’s much-anticipated album, Donda, was finally released. However, soon after the drop, drama ensued between the hitmaker and DaBaby’s manager, Arnold Taylor, over a song in the album.
Three listening parties and multiple release-related confusions later, Kanye’s tenth studio album is finally out.
However, the release was followed by drama and things got messy when Kanye alleged that Dababy’s manager had blocked the rapper’s verse in one of Donda‘s songs, which caused the delay in the album’s release.

Who is DaBaby’s manager?
For the unversed, the 29-year-old rapper is managed by Arnold, a Charlotte, North Carolina based music executive. He signed DaBaby in 2014 and has been supporting the rapper ever since.
Arnold, who grew up on the south side of the city, started working in the music business in the early ‘90s. He now serves as the CEO of the South Coast Music group.
Although his label represents many other musicians, DaBaby is their most popular artist. While the rapper’s fame has skyrocketed in recent years, his manager has remained behind the scenes, supporting the star.
A report in clture.org reveals that DaBaby’s manager got his big break in the business at Death Row Records, through another popular executive named Parrish Johnson.
He has worked with companies like Blackground Records, Def Jam, Geffen, Interscope, Epic Records, Universal and more. Arnold has also worked closely with rappers like Future and Cash Out among others.

Controversy surrounding Jail Pt. 2’s release explored
On Sunday, Kanye shared screenshots that appeared to explain the delay in his album’s release.
The now-deleted screengrabs show the exchange between Kanye’s manager Bu Thiam and the rapper, wherein the former claims that DaBaby’s manager isn’t clearing the song ‘Jail Pt.2.’
We see that Kanye replies to the messages saying, “not taking my brother off [the Donda album].” He also says, “He [DaBaby] was the only person who said he would vote for me in public”.
However, DaBaby’s manager Arnold quickly responded on Instagram, trying to clear the mix-up. The music exec, responded to Kanye’s claims, calling them “cap.”
He took to his social media and claimed: “I never got a call or email from @kanyewest @__bu @johnmonopoly I just received it today and cleared it in 2 seconds. Why wouldn’t I want a hit song out when #SCMG is all about the growth and culture of hip hop and my artist!!!”
