Many people are wondering who Steve McMichael’s wife is after he announced his diagnosis of ALS in 2021. The 63-year-old, who played for the Chicago Bears, is a legend in the sports field.
Following Steve McMichael’s successful NFL career, he moved into wrestling and was known for signature moves such as the “Camel Clutch” and “Swinging Neckbreaker”.
Steve McMichael in 2021
Steve McMichael is renowned for having success in not just one, but two, sporting fields – American football and wrestling. He led the Chicago Bulls to win the Super Bowl in 1985. He had his own TV show and theme song.
However, the Texan looked to share some sad news with the world in a typically candid way in 2021.
Speaking to WGN News in April, Steve said that he’d been diagnosed with ALS. He’s lost the use of his arms and hands and has been donated a wheelchair from the Chicago Bulls.
He added: “I’m glad in my life, I never held back on anything“. Steve added that he wouldn’t “trade in this ALS for brain damage” suggesting that he’s grateful to still remember who he is and in control of his mind.

Steve described himself in his WGN News as previously being like “superman” looks-wise.
However, he’s announced that he’s no longer going to be out in public anymore. Instead of people speculating where he’d gone, Steve decided to announce his ALS diagnosis.
Steve was married from 1985 – 1988 to Debra Marshall. However, he later remarried his current wife, Misty.
Meet Steve McMichael’s wife Misty
Steve’s wife, Misty Davenport, has been caring for him, assisting him in eating, drinking and other basic daily tasks.
Misty and Steve have been married for over two decades. They tied the knot in 2001. Together they share a daughter, Macy, who was born in 2008.
On behalf of Steve and Misty, a GoFundMe page was created on April 23rd 2021 in order to raise funds to help Steve’s ALS medical costs. The GoFundMe page states: “First, we must give Steve, Misty and their 13-year-old daughter, Macy some immediate care, comfort and peace of mind“.
The Chicago Tribune report “At home with Steve ‘Mongo’ McMichael” provides a snapshot of life for the husband and wife following his ALS diagnosis.
