Why did Lady Gaga wear a meat dress?
The Bad Romance singer revealed that back in 2010, she wanted to make a statement about the United States’ “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy.
“At the time, they were trying to repeal the policy,” the singer said. The former policy stated that military applicants should not be asked about their sexual orientation. It was repealed in 2011.
Speaking about how her meat dress made a political statement, the Shallow singer said, “We decided to do the meat dress because I thought to myself if we were willing to die for your country, what does it matter how you identify.

Was the MTV music awards outfit made of real meat?
This question has pestered many fans ever since they watched Gaga walk down the red carpet draped the unique outfit.
Yes, the meat dress was made of real meat. The outfit reportedly comprised 50 pounds of rib and steak which were purchased from Franc Fernandez’s butcher.
The look became so popular that it catapulted Lady Gaga to international stardom and many tried to replicate it.
The replicas were reportedly made and sold for up to $100,000 (£80,000). However, they preserved the original dress and put it on exhibition.
Though the outfit was “thrilling” to wear, the singer said, it did undoubtedly “smell like meat.”
