It’s never going to be easy when it comes to baby name choices.
Parents could take a couple of days, weeks or even months to come to a decision.
One woman claimed to be finding this process rather difficult after her fiancé seems to be rejecting every name she suggests.
Now posting on Reddit, in the “Am I The A**hole forum”, the woman explained that he doesn’t like any of her choices.
And her partner is demanding the couple to name the baby after a Marvel comic book character.
The mum-to-be says they’re having a girl and her surname will be Frost.
As a result, the baby would be called Emma Frost – like the X-Men character.
She told him she didn’t want to name her child after a fictional character, but her partner just won’t let it go.
The woman said: “My fiancé’s last name is Frost and the baby is a girl.
“He brought up the name Emma for her before and I thought nothing of it and said I don’t really like the name but he seemed to push and say it’s a perfect match for Frost.”
She added: “I got suspicious and Googled Emma Frost only to find she’s a comic book character. I told him I didn’t like how he didn’t tell me what the name was from and didn’t want to name my daughter after a comic book character.
“He got mad and went on a rant about how she’s his daughter too and he gets a say. I told him no way that name is gonna fly.
“This argument was a month ago and he has rejected every name I’ve suggested and told me he won’t agree to anything other than Emma. I think at this point he’s doing it just because he’s stubborn.”
The man’s brother even got involved by telling the woman Emma Frost “isn’t a bad character” and said she’s being an “a**hole” for not considering it.
Since it was shared on Reddit, many were quick to reassure the mum-to-be that she wasn’t in the wrong.
One wrote: “It’s really disturbing that a father wants to name his daughter that. Hopefully he just thinks it’s cool and it’s not something more creepy and sinister.
“Still, it at the very least shows he views the naming of his child, something that will impact her for the rest of her life, as a joke, and that’s kinda concerning.”
Another added: “Her name will open her up to a *lot* of inappropriate teasing from peers, and eyebrow raises from other adults that are familiar with the character.”
