MANILA, Philippines — A Singaporean tourist recovered his bag containing a laptop and cameras that he left behind at Siargao Airport on Saturday.
The owner went back to the airport on Sunday after learning that his bag had been located.
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said that on May 31, its Security and Intelligence Service and Eagle One were notified about a red and black backpack left unattended in the airport’s waiting area.
Siargao Airport is under the supervision of the CAAP.
The incident was immediately reported to the Aviation Security and Explosive Ordnance Disposal units who promptly responded and conducted standard inspection procedures, including a K9 sweep.
These protocols, it said, are implemented in compliance with International Civil Aviation Organization Annex 17 and aligned with the airport’s National Civil Aviation Security Program, ensuring global standards for threat management are upheld.
Authorities determined that the bag was safe and proceeded to inventory its contents, which included a laptop, power bank, cameras, and other personal items.
The CAAP praised the quick reaction and teamwork of airport security personnel. It reminded the traveling public to remain vigilant and keep their belongings attended at all times.
