TRENDING RUMORS

– In-form Fiorentina striker Moise Kean could be set for a return to the Premier League, with both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur reported to be weighing up moves. Kean, 24, previously had an unsuccessful spell at Everton, scoring only two goals in 32 Premier League appearances. But since moving to Fiorentina from Juventus last summer he has been rejuvenated, netting 15 Serie A goals — only Mateo Retegui of Atalanta has scored more (20). Tuttosport reports that Kean has a release clause of just €52 million, which makes him a very attractive option in today’s transfer market.

– Newcastle United and Chelsea are keen on Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher, reports Football Insider. The 26-year-old is set to enter the final year of his deal at Anfield in the summer, and it is reported that he currently has no plans to sign an extension amid plans to pursue regular first-team football. Multiple clubs in Europe are also believed to be watching his situation, with Georgia international Giorgi Mamardashvili returning from his loan spell at Valencia at the end of the season to replace him.

– Atlético Madrid are interested in a move for Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta, reports TeamTalk. The Spanish club have identified the 27-year-old as a potential replacement for Antoine Griezmann, who is set to enter the final year of his contract at the Wanda Metropolitano. The Eagles are expected to consider offers for Mateta if he doesn’t sign a new deal, with “several” teams keeping close tabs on his situation amid promising recent form, during a spell in which he has contributed to 11 goals in 24 Premier League matches. The Sun, meanwhile, claims John Textor wants Mateta to join Lyon — Textor is a major shareholder in both Lyon and Palace.

– Manchester United have no plans to let winger Antony remain at Old Trafford regardless of how he performs while on loan at Real Betis, reports TeamTalk. The club’s hierarchy are believed to see the £86m move for the 24-year-old as “one of the worst pieces of business” in their recent history, and they are hopeful that his performances in LaLiga could help attract other suitors. Antony scored in the 3-2 league defeat against Celta Vigo on Saturday.

– Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic will be moved on to make room for the permanent signing of on-loan Paris Saint-Germain forward Randal Kolo Muani, according to Calciomercato. The 25-year-old Serbia star is set to be offloaded imminently as the Bianconeri look to evolve their squad. Kolo Muani continued his impressive start to life in the Serie A on Friday with a brace in the 2-1 league win over Como, making it five goals from his first three matches.

CONFIRMED TRANSFERS

– Aston Villa have announced the signing of Yasin Ozcan from Kasimpasa on a pre-contract agreement. The 18-year-old defender, who is a Turkey under-21 international, will move to the Premier League club on a free transfer in July.

– Orlando City have confirmed the signing of midfielder Eduard Atuesta from Palmeiras.

EXPERT TAKE

ESPN’s James Olley asks if there’s any truth in the links between Moise Kean and the two Premier League clubs.

News of a €52m release clause in Moise Kean’s Fiorentina contract being made public is the sort of thing that would inevitably spark transfer speculation.

Arsenal’s very public failure to sign a forward mid-season make them ripe for such rumour and Kean would be a cheaper alternative to their preferred long-term forward targets of RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak.

The Gunners were also linked with Kean in 2022, when they were set on signing Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City, and their priorities once again lie elsewhere this summer.

Of course, a failure to sign either of their top options — Bayern Munich are interested in Sesko while Newcastle would be reluctant to lose Isak for all but an astronomical fee — could lead them to pivot to unexpected alternatives, just as they did last month when launching a late bid to sign Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa.

Kean, 24, has certainly kicked on this season having scored 19 goals in 28 appearances across all competitions. He has also demonstrated an ability to press from the front in a way which suits both Arsenal and Tottenham, who are also keen to add more firepower to their forward line despite the arrival of Mathys Tel from Bayern.

They are unlikely to take up an option to sign Timo Werner and with lingering doubts over Richarlison’s ability to stay fit for prolonged periods, Kean could represent an interesting option.
