The Walt Disney Company has a long history of honoring and supporting military veterans and their families through charitable contributions, training programs, discounts, and ceremonies in its parks. Though Disney cruise discounts can be hard to come by, Disney Cruise Line offers special rates for active and retired military personnel on select sailings.
In honor of National Veterans and Military Families Appreciation Month, Disney Cruise Line recently recognized a special military veteran with an exciting gift to thank him for his service. During a trip to Disneyland Resort that he received in recognition of his dedication and selflessness while serving in the Marine Corps, David Negreros and his family got a frightfully delightful surprise at the Haunted Mansion attraction.

The happy haunts materialized and brought news that the Negreros family would soon trade the Doom Buggy for a cruise ship. They will be one of the first families to sail on the Disney Treasure, Disney Cruise Line’s new ship launching in December from Port Canaveral, Florida.

Veteran’s Haunted Mansion journey will continue at sea
The family was advised to watch out for stowaway ghosts on board their seven-night Caribbean cruise. Disney Treasure passengers may encounter them at the Haunted Mansion Parlor, the first-ever Haunted Mansion-inspired bar.
One of the most anticipated new venues on board the Disney Treasure ship, the Haunted Mansion Parlor will feature nostalgic tributes to the Disney Parks attraction and introduce passengers to the next chapter of the Haunted Mansion saga.
The Haunted Mansion Parlor is just one of multiple lounges inspired by classic Disney Parks attractions that the Negreros family and other passengers will get to experience on board the Disney Treasure.

The ship also features a pub inspired by the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Submarine Voyage, and an exotic lounge themed to the Jungle Cruise attraction. The Disney Treasure will also debut the first theatrical dinner show themed to the Disney and Pixar film, “Coco,” and a “Disney The Tale of Moana” Broadway-style musical.
Disney Cruise Line not only honored Negreros for his service in the Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton and in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, they recognized him for the impact he continues to make in his community.
Negreros works with various veteran vocational programs and resource centers to help other veterans as they transition out of the military. His life story demonstrates his dedication not only to his country, but to his family and community.
