Sanaullah’s remarks, made during an interview with Pakistanâ€s ARY News, came on the day Trump scored a historic election victory. Sanaullah, who serves as Special Assistant to Prime Minister Sharif, drew comparisons between Trump and Khan, citing their alleged use of lies, stubbornness, and unlawful actions.
He accused Trump of orchestrating the Capitol Hill insurrection, a comment that may raise eyebrows in diplomatic circles. “Trump is America’s Imran Khan,†Sanaullah said, adding that both men shared a propensity for defying the law and inciting violence to achieve their goals. “The attack on Capitol Hill is a reality,†he stated, dismissing concerns over the consequences of his inflammatory words.
The remarks may have diplomatic repercussions. India is hoping that the Trump administration pulls up Islamabad for terror infrastructure and abetment of cross-border terror.
Meanwhile, Zulfi Bukhari, who is Imran Khanâ€s adviser on international relations, has announced his upcoming visit to Washington, where he plans to meet Trumpâ€s team members, daughter and his son-in-law to discuss what he claims as injustices faced by the jailed PTI founder and his party.Bukhari, a London-based close friend of Imran Khan and former PTI cabinet member, told Pakistan daily The News that he has always been in contact with various team and family members of President Trump, including Jared Kushner.Asked if he would approach the US President-elect regarding Imran Khanâ€s release from jail, Bukhari stated that he would wait until the initial transition period before traveling to Washington. “Donald Trumpâ€s daughter and son-in-law are personal friends of mine,†Bukhari claimed, adding that he also has connections with several members of the president-electâ€s team. He further claimed that Trump had previously expressed concerns to him on the sentencing of Imran Khan by a Pakistani court.
